Assalamualaikum, for today's journal, I would like to talk about the 13th sustainable development goal which is climate action. Sustainable Development Goal 13 is about climate action and is one of 17 Sustainable Development Goals established by the United Nations General Assembly in 2015. The official mission statement of this goal is to "Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts"
Climate action will cause global warming which is experienced when the earth’s surface heats up and this causes the average temperature of the earth to rise, the temperature of the atmosphere and the oceans also rise. The sea level also rises with the increase in temperature of the globe and this affects the weather patterns and can cause unusual weather events such as drought and heavy rainfall events. Human is responsible for globalization and in return globalization causes very severe harm to humans, plants, and also animal.
Based on my experience, people nowadays do not gives enough attention on how our climate condition as most of us do not know what really happen or the importance of good climate to ourselves. In this journal, the topic of climate change caused by vehicles will be put in the spotlight.
The increase in population is one of the major problem of climate change. This increases in population also leads to increased air pollution. Automobiles such as cars, motorcycles and lories emit a lot of CO2, which remains in the atmosphere. Car pollutants cause immediate and long-term effects on the environment. Car exhausts emit a wide range of gases and solid matter, causing global warming, acid rain, and harming the environment and human health. Engine noise and fuel spills also cause pollution.
Cars, trucks and other forms of transportation are the single largest contributor to air pollution in the urban area. Car pollution is one of the major causes of global warming. Cars and trucks emit carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases, which contribute quite a large percentage of the Malaysia' total global warming pollution. This condition also causes unexpected weather conditions such as sudden heavy rain that might lead to flash floods
Worry not, there are also a few ways to curb this issue mainly in the field of vehicle usage. One of the ways is by carpooling to go anyway. This can hugely reduce the amount of toxic and hazardous substances released by cars. Usage of public transport also contributes to maintaining climate in the most conducive environment. Imagine 100 people use a single vehicle, of course it will help the most in sustaining the environment.
In conclusion, we should start to give attention to this issue as it is very important not just for our environment but also for ourselves. If the climate started to change drastically, with flash floods and sudden drought, nobody can live comfortably and undergo their daily life in full potential.
